Access to timely and quality healthcare remains a major challenge in rural India. Addressing this gap, Ujala Cygnus Super Speciality Hospital, Rewari has taken a significant step toward improving healthcare delivery in rural areas by launching Sehat Kendra. This initiative aims to bring essential medical services closer to people living in villages, reducing the need for long-distance travel to hospitals.
Healthcare at the Doorstep of Rural Communities
Ujala Cygnus group of hospitals operates a network of 25 hospitals, primarily across Tier II and Tier III cities. A large number of patients visiting these hospitals come from nearby towns and villages, often travelling 20–30 kilometers to access basic medical care. In many villages, the absence of doctors and primary healthcare facilities forces patients to travel long distances even for minor health issues.
Recognising this need, Ujala Cygnus decided to reverse the approach. Instead of patients coming to the hospital, healthcare should reach where people live. This vision led to the launch of Sehat Kendra.
Why were Sehat Kendras introduced?
According to hospital leadership, two major gaps were identified:
1. Lack of Primary Healthcare in Villages: Many rural areas do not have access to doctors for basic consultation and early diagnosis.
2. Post-Surgery Follow-up Challenges: Patients who undergo surgeries at the hospital often face difficulty returning for post-operative care, leading to gaps in continuity of treatment.
Sehat Kendra aims to bridge both these gaps by providing primary consultation, follow-up care, and diagnostic support closer to patients’ homes.
Locations and Services
As part of the first phase, Sehat Kendras has been launched in Kosli and Pataudi – Heli Mandi.
These centres offer:
Primary medical consultations
Teleconsultation services, allowing patients to connect with hospital doctors remotely
Blood sample collection, with reports delivered efficiently
Basic health guidance and referral support
Based on patient needs, additional services will be added in future phases.
Reducing Unnecessary Referrals to Metro Cities
Often, patients from Rewari and nearby rural areas are referred to metro cities like Gurugram or Delhi for treatment. Through Sehat Kendra, Ujala Cygnus aims to strengthen local healthcare capacity, ensuring patients receive appropriate guidance and care closer to home whenever possible.
Commitment to Quality and Community Care
Ujala Cygnus Super Speciality Hospital Rewari is a NABH-accredited multispecialty hospital, offering comprehensive healthcare services under one roof. Beyond infrastructure and accreditation, the hospital emphasizes strong community engagement.
Hospital leadership highlighted that true healthcare impact comes from being connected to the community. Sehat Kendra serves as a bridge between advanced hospital care and grassroots healthcare needs, helping improve awareness, early diagnosis, and overall health outcomes in rural populations.
A Step Toward Healthier Rural India
The launch of Sehat Kendra reflects Ujala Cygnus Hospital’s broader mission to ensure that quality healthcare is accessible, affordable, and equitable, especially for underserved rural communities. With plans to expand this initiative in the coming phases, the hospital continues to work toward a future where no one is deprived of healthcare due to distance or lack of facilities. Because when health is protected, life thrives.
